Heather Green
Heather Green is the heart and soul of Golden Years Haven. A registered nurse, Army veteran, and lifelong animal rescuer, Heather has spent more than 25 years advocating for the dogs who are too often overlooked — the seniors, the medically fragile, the ones who have waited far too long for someone to choose them.
Before founding Golden Years Haven, Heather ran a successful dog training and daycare business, building deep expertise in behavior, care, and rehabilitation. She has taken every bit of that knowledge and poured it into her dream: a sanctuary where older dogs can live out their final chapter with comfort, dignity, and love. Her mission has always been simple — leave no dog behind.
Heather is the kind of person who will sit on the floor if the couches are full of dogs, because moving them isn’t an option. Their comfort comes first. Her compassion is matched only by her strength, and it takes both to do this work. Golden Years Haven exists because Heather refused to let senior dogs be forgotten.
Paul Green
Paul Green began his career in sales, quickly becoming a top producer in the mortgage industry before transitioning into banking and later management. He spent years leading teams, building strong operations, and developing the kind of steady leadership that would one day become essential to running a rescue.
Dogs had always been part of Paul’s life, but only as a pet owner. He didn’t yet see the depth of cruelty and neglect so many animals face — especially seniors. That changed when he met Heather. Her passion opened his eyes, and within a year they began building a life together rooted in compassion and purpose.
In 2023, Paul stepped down from his role as General Manager to help create Golden Years Haven. For him, nothing compares to seeing the light return to the eyes of a dog who once looked broken and defeated. His commitment, empathy, and operational strength help ensure every senior dog at Golden Years Haven gets the chance to feel safe, loved, and home.
